Sea sickness or motion sicknessĀ is a term which can be interpreted in many ways. One opinion is that seasickness is only a mental state and nothing as such happens physically, other school of though is that ,the slow rumbling sound of the machinery causes the sea sickness.
As being a seasoned seafarer, i did have the sea sickness in the 1st part of my 1st ship, other wise i never felt sea sick, on the other hand, we had a very senior CE who was till having sea sickness on a afra max tanker.
Some seafarers dread sea sickness so much that they always join only big ships as the rolling is little less on those ships.
Bottom line-no one can predict how your body is going to cope with it and hence go ahead and enjoy it as a occupational hazard!
